Missile fired from Gaza explodes in Israeli settlement: Report

No casualties reported after missile lands in Kibbutz Alumim, western Negev

JERUSALEM (AA) - A missile fired from the northern Gaza Strip exploded Sunday on an illegal Israeli settlement but caused no casualties, Israeli media reported.

The missile “was launched from the northern Gaza Strip and exploded in an open area in Kibbutz Alumim in the western Negev,” Channel 12 said.

No casualties were reported, daily Yedioth Ahronoth said.

None of the Palestinian factions claimed responsibility for the missile launch.

Meanwhile, the Israeli army on Sunday claimed that its forces destroyed about 270 targets throughout the Gaza Strip, including missile launch sites during the Jewish Passover holiday.

The Passover, or Pesach, holiday commemorates the Israelites’ exodus from Egypt under the Prophet Moses and is considered one of the holiest times on the Jewish calendar.

This year, Passover began on the evening of April 22 and will end on the evening of April 30.

Israel has waged a brutal offensive on Gaza since a cross-border attack by Hamas on Oct. 7, which Tel Aviv said killed less than 1,200 people.

More than 34,400 Palestinians have since been killed, mostly women and children, and nearly 77,600 injured amid mass destruction and severe shortages of necessities.

Israel is accused of genocide at the International Court of Justice. An interim ruling in January ordered Tel Aviv to stop genocidal acts and take measures to guarantee that humanitarian assistance is provided to civilians in Gaza.
