1 killed, 1 injured in Ukraine's attack on city of Donetsk: Local authorities

MOSCOW (AA) - A man was killed and a woman injured in Ukraine's attack on the city of Donetsk, according to local authorities on Saturday.

A Ukrainian rocket hit a residential building in the Voroshilov district of Donetsk, Mayor Alexey Kulemzin said on Telegram.

"One person was killed and another injured as a result of a direct hit of Ukraine's shell into an apartment building in the Voroshilov district of Donetsk. A man born in 1973 was killed. A woman born in 1955 was injured," he said.

The emergency services are working at the place of the incident, clearing the rubble and eliminating fire.

On Thursday, a Ukrainian shell hit an apartment building wounding three people. Prior to that, Ukraine's armed forces reportedly shelled from the Grad multiple rocket launcher system at the Kalinin hospital in Donetsk.

The Russia-Ukraine war marks its second anniversary on Feb. 24. Earlier in the day, the Russian Defense Ministry said Ukrainian troops maintain the same intensity of artillery shelling despite claims of shortage of ammunition.
