10 militants killed in northwest Pakistan as security forces thwart terror attack: Report

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Pakistan Army on Thursday foiled a terrorist attack on a checkpoint and killed 10 militants in northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, local media reported.

The incident took place after a suicide bomber blew himself up near a military camp in South Waziristan district, Geo News broadcaster reported, citing security sources.

According to the broadcaster, heavy gunfire was heard after a loud explosion, as terrorists attempted to attack a Jandola checkpoint but were repelled by security forces.

Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the security forces for repelling the attack. “The nation is proud of the professional capabilities of the security forces,” he said.
