14-year-old girl suffers severe injuries in suspected acid attack at London school

A 14-year-old girl sustained “potentially life-changing” injuries after a substance, believed to be acidic, was thrown at pupils and staff outside Westminster Academy in West London, press reports said on Tuesday.

The incident, which took place on Monday afternoon, left three people injured, including a male student, 16, and a 27-year-old woman, who have both since been treated, according to The Guardian daily.

Investigations are underway to identify and arrest those responsible, while tests on the substance continue.

In response to the attack, the school closed temporarily for further investigation, and support services are being offered to affected students and staff.

Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the police.
