ADIYAMAN, Turkey (AA) - A 1,500-year-old bread oven structure was discovered Monday during excavations in Turkey’s southeastern Adiyaman province.
During excavations, a bread oven structure and nails belonging to the structure were found in a 500-square-meter (5,382-square-foot) area in the ancient city of Perrhe, one of the five largest cities of the Commagene Kingdom.
Mehmet Alkan, the head of the museum, told Anadolu Agency that teams unearthed industrial wine production areas and a bakery structure to meet the bread needs of the people working in the area.
A historical Roman fountain, large blocky stones, water channels and various architectural structures were unearthed earlier this year in the ancient city.
