ATHENS (AA) – Bodies of 18 people have been found burned in Greece’s northeastern Evros region struck by a major wildfire, local media said on Tuesday.
"18 people who probably entered our country illegally were cremated near the forest of Dadia,” Giannis Artofios, spokesman for the Greek fire department, was quoted as saying by public broadcaster ERT.
Search is continuing across the area where the bodies were found, the report added.
At least one physician and forensic experts are already in the scene, the broadcaster said.
