BEIRUT (AA) – At least two civilians were killed in an Israeli airstrike on Sunday in southern Lebanon, according to local media.
The fatalities occurred when fighter jets struck a house in the border town of Houla, the state-run National News Agency reported.
The broadcaster reported Israeli artillery shelling in the towns of Aita al-Shaab, Naqoura, Al-Dhahira, and Yarine.
No information was yet available about casualties or damage.
Tension has risen along the border between Lebanon and Israel, with intermittent exchanges of fire between Israeli forces and Hezbollah, the deadliest clashes since the two sides fought a full-fledged war in 2006.
The border tension comes amid an Israeli military offensive in the Gaza Strip that has killed over 36,400 people since a cross-border attack by the Palestinian group Hamas on Oct. 7 last year.
