2 defense exhibitions kick off in UAE with participation of companies from 65 countries

1,565 companies take part in International Defence Exhibition, Naval Defence Exhibition

Two major defense exhibitions on Monday kicked off in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), with the participation of companies from 65 countries.

According to the UAE's state news agency WAM, the 17th edition of the International Defence Exhibition (IDEX) and the 8th edition of the Naval Defence Exhibition (NAVDEX) kicked off in Abu Dhabi.

The two exhibitions, which will continue until Feb. 21, "bring together leading global companies and experts in the defense industry to showcase the latest technologies and solutions in the sector, aimed at enhancing international peace and security," WAM reported.

It added that the current editions see 16% growth in company participation compared to the previous editions, with 1,565 companies showcasing their latest technologies from 65 countries worldwide, where more than 3,300 products and technologies will be displayed.

A total of 213 companies from the UAE are taking part in the exhibitions, making up 16% of exhibitors, while international companies constitute 84 percent.

The Emirati broadcaster noted that companies from seven new countries are joining the exhibitions, including Qatar, Ethiopia, and Hungary.
