LONDON (AA) - Two British men who were reported missing on Jan. 6 in eastern Ukraine, have been killed, according to UK Foreign Office on Tuesday.
Christopher Parry, 28, and Andrew Bagshaw, 48, reportedly disappeared on Jan. 6 near the city of Soledar while helping local residents move to safety amid the war with Russia.
In a statement by Foreign Office, Parry's family announced the death of both men while "attempting a humanitarian evacuation" from the area.
"It is with great sadness we have to announce that our beloved Chrissy has been killed along with his colleague Andrew Bagshaw whilst attempting a humanitarian evacuation from Soledar, eastern Ukraine," Rob, Christine, and Katy Parry said in the statement, according to BBC.
Soledar is a small city in the eastern Bakhmut region, where Ukrainian troops have been involved in heavy fighting with Russian forces and the Russian mercenary group Wagner.
Earlier in January, Wagner said they captured one dead body of the two British men.
