2 Palestinians killed in Israeli drone strike in eastern Gaza despite ceasefire

Civilians targeted near Al-Mu'tasim Mosque in Al-Shujaiya neighborhood

At least two Palestinians were killed on Friday in an Israeli drone strike targeting a gathering of civilians in eastern Gaza City, in the northern part of the enclave, despite a ceasefire agreement between Israel and the Palestinian group Hamas.

Medical sources told Anadolu that they were killed near Al-Mu'tasim Mosque in the Al-Shujaiya neighborhood.

Eyewitnesses confirmed that an Israeli drone carried out the attack.

A ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement has been in place in Gaza since Jan. 19, halting Israel’s brutal war, which has killed over 48,400 Palestinians, most of them women and children, and left the enclave in ruins.

Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its military campaign.
