3 die in Poland coal mine collapse

Three workers died after a collapse at a coal mine in southern Poland, according to local media reports.

The collapse at the Myslowice-Wesola coal mine was caused by a tremor that occurred 870 meters (2,854 feet) underground on early Tuesday, according to the state-run PAP news agency.

Aleksandra Wysocka-Siembiga, the Polish Mining Group spokesperson, told PAP that the rescuers have recovered the bodies of three miners who were trapped.

A total of 15 miners were at risk during the moment of the collapse, and 11 of them managed to leave the mine. Four of them, however, were trapped, according to the news agency.
