3 Israelis sustain injuries from anti-tank guided missile fired from Lebanon

In response, Israeli army says it fired artillery shells on location in Lebanon that fired anti-tank guided missiles toward Israeli territory

ANKARA (AA) - Three Israelis in northern Israel on Tuesday were injured by fire from an anti-tank guided missile launched from Lebanon.

The Times of Israel website said the injured people were lightly wounded and were taken to hospital for treatment.

In response, the Israeli army said it fired artillery shells on a location in Lebanon that fired anti-tank guided missiles toward Israeli territory.

Early on Tuesday, the Israeli army said it had killed a cell of four infiltrators who tried to cross into Israel.

In a statement, the Israeli army said the incident took place near the northern settlement of Hanita, but no injuries were reported on the Israeli side.

Since the start of the Israel-Hamas conflict on Oct. 7, tensions have flared along the Israeli-Lebanese border, with Israeli forces and the Hezbollah group exchanging fire.

Eleven days into the conflict with the Palestinian group Hamas, Israel's bombardment and blockade of the Gaza Strip has continued, with over one million people displaced – almost half of Gaza's total population, according to the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, or UNRWA.

The fighting began when Hamas initiated Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, a multi-pronged surprise attack including a barrage of rocket launches and infiltrations into Israel via land, sea, and air. It said the incursion was in retaliation for the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque and increased settler violence against Palestinians.

The Israeli military then launched Operation Swords of Iron against Hamas targets within the Gaza Strip.

At least 2,848 Palestinians, including 750 children, have been killed in Israeli airstrikes on Gaza.

More than 1,400 Israelis have been killed in the conflict.
