3 migrants die as boat capsized off Greek island of Samos

ATHENS (AA) – At least three migrants died in a boat capsize off the Greek island of Samos, local media reported on Monday.

They died when a plastic boat carrying some 33 migrants sunk off in the southwestern Agios Isodoros bay of the island, according to the public broadcaster ERT.

Five of them reached the shore and an extensive search and rescue operation is underway to locate the 25 missing migrants, it said.

The broadcaster said that there were strong winds in the area.
