4 dead after car crashes into Illinois after-school camp

Several people hospitalized with injuries; Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker closely monitoring incident

WASHINGTON (AA) - Four people were killed Monday when a vehicle crashed through a building hosting an after-school program in Chatham, Illinois.

According to the Illinois State Police, the crash happened at YNOT Outdoors Summer and After School Camp located at 301 Breckenridge Road.

The vehicle struck multiple people outside and inside the building and several other people were hospitalized with injuries.

Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker said on X that his administration is closely monitoring the crash.

"As we continue to learn more, please follow the guidance of all local authorities. Let's wrap our arms around the community tonight as we receive updates on the situation," he said.

An investigation is underway.
