4 Syrian customs personnel injured in armed attack in Aleppo

ALEPPO/ ISTANBUL (AA) - Four members of Syria’s General Directorate of Ports were injured Friday in an armed attack in the northern Aleppo province.

A vehicle belonging to the directorate came under fire by unidentified gunmen on the Raqqa road, east of Aleppo, an Anadolu correspondent said.

The attack left four personnel onboard the vehicle injured, though their medical condition was not immediately known.

Security authorities have launched an investigation into the attack.

The new Syrian administration is working to tighten security conditions nationwide and to pursue remnants of the former regime accused of stirring security unrest.

Bashar al-Assad, Syria’s leader for nearly 25 years, fled to Russia, ending the Baath Party regime, which had been in power since 1963. A new transitional administration headed by President Ahmad al-Sharaa was formed in January.
