6 Palestinians hurt in W. Bank clashes with Israel army

Palestinian territories continue to witness sporadic clashes following US decision to move embassy to Jerusalem

RAMALLAH, Palestine (AA) - Six Palestinians were injured on Tuesday in clashes with the Israeli army in the occupied West Bank, according to Palestinian sources.

“Medics treated two Palestinians who were hurt in clashes near the Al-Fawwar refugee camp near the southern West Bank city of Hebron [Al-Khalil],” read a statement issued by the Palestinian Health Ministry.

“The two were moderately injured after being struck in the legs by live ammunition,” it added.

The Palestinian Red Crescent, meanwhile, reported that four other Palestinians had been hurt by live ammunition during similar clashes near Hebron.

“Two Palestinians were shot and injured by live ammunition in clashes that took place in the Arroub refugee camp north of Hebron,” the NGO said.

“Two others were injured -- also by live ammunition -- in the town of Sa’ir, also located to the north of Hebron,” it added.

Tensions have mounted in the Palestinian territories since U.S. President Donald Trump recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital on Dec. 6.

The move drew widespread condemnation from across the Arab and Muslim world and sparked angry protests across the Palestinian territories.

In the three weeks since Trump’s announcement, at least 15 Palestinians have been martyred -- and thousands more injured -- in clashes with Israeli forces in the West Bank, East Jerusalem and Gaza Strip.
