7 injured in northern Israel from rocket strikes launched from Lebanon
Israeli army says it detected launch of 15 projectiles from southern Lebanon towards Carmel area and Haifa Bay, marking first such incident since Oct. 8 last year

JERUSALEM (AA) – At least seven people were injured, including one seriously, from rockets fired from southern Lebanon toward the northern Israeli cities of Haifa and Tiberias late Sunday.
Israel’s official broadcasting authority KAN cited the Magen David Adom ambulance service as saying that "the fall of several rockets in the Carmel area and the bay in the middle of Haifa resulted in six people sustaining moderate to minor injuries."
It added that the injured were transferred to Rambam Hospital in central Haifa for treatment.
The Israeli ambulance service also announced that one person suffered moderate to severe injuries due to a rocket landing in Tiberias.
The Israeli military announced late Sunday that it had detected the launch of 15 projectiles from southern Lebanon towards the Carmel area and the bay in the city of Haifa, marking the first such incident since Oct. 8 last year.
While many areas surrounding Haifa have witnessed rocket launches and interceptions, this is the first time that the city center has been targeted, according to Anadolu.
Lebanon’s Hezbollah group and Israel have been engaged in cross-border warfare since the start of Israel's war on Gaza, which has killed over 41,800 people, most of them women and children, following an attack by the Palestinian group Hamas last October.
At least 2,036 people have since been killed, over 9,500 injured and 1.2 million others displaced, according to Lebanese authorities.
The international community has warned that Israeli attacks in Lebanon could escalate the Gaza conflict into a wider regional war.
