8 people stabbed on final day of London's Notting Hill Carnival: Police
275 individuals arrested in 2 days, say UK police

LONDON (AA) - UK police on Tuesday said the final day of the Notting Hill Carnival was marred by a surge in serious violence, with eight stabbing incidents occurring in a single night.
While detectives initially commended the weekend for its positive atmosphere, the carnival took a darker turn on Monday, prompting law enforcement intervention.
According to police reports, a 29-year-old man is currently in critical condition after being stabbed on Warfield Road, just off Harrow Road, shortly after 9 p.m. local time.
Prior to this incident, there were multiple stabbing incidents and one officer was also bitten.
A 19-year-old man was attacked with a knife in Ladbroke Grove just before 8.p.m local time. He is currently in the hospital in serious but stable condition.
Additionally, six other men of ages 18, 19, 20, 25, 28, and 40 were also stabbed in separate incidents throughout the evening.
Police said their injuries were not life-threatening.
Over the course of two days, a total of 275 individuals were arrested.
Also on Sunday, there were 110 arrests for various offenses, including possession of offensive weapons, assaults, drug possession, and sexual offenses.
One man sustained a non-life-threatening slash wound but declined assistance from emergency services.
The Notting Hill Carnival is a yearly Caribbean Carnival celebration held in London since 1966, spanning two days during the August bank holiday weekend.
This vibrant event unfolds on the streets of the Notting Hill neighborhood in Kensington, typically occurring on the Sunday before the bank holiday Monday in August.
