9 children killed in central India wall collapse

NEW DELHI (AA) - Nine children died and several others were injured after a wall collapsed in central India on Sunday, officials said.

Mohan Yadav, chief minister of the Madhya Pradesh state, said nine children died due to the collapse of the wall of a dilapidated house due to heavy rains in Shahpur in the state’s Sagar district.

“I have directed the district administration to provide proper treatment to the injured children,” he wrote on X, while announcing financial assistance for the families of victims.

The incident took place this morning near the campus of a temple during a religious program in the village of Shahpur, the Press Trust of India reported on Sunday.
