Istanbul gets ready to host major music festival plus a concert by Thomas Anders, former lead singer of Modern Talking
-Istanbul to host Chill Out Festival
Istanbul music lovers will enjoy a two-day festival between May 28 and 29.
Chill Out Festival will take place in Life Park, bringing together musicians from different genres, including jazz, electronica and indie.
This year’s headliners are Bedouin, a Brooklyn-based DJ partnership between Rami Abousabe and Tamer Malki; Chico Trukillo, a new Chilean cumbia band which merges cumbia, ska, reggae and rock among other styles; Choir of Young Believers, musical project of Copenhagen-based singer and guitarist Jannis Noya Makrigiannis; and Cigarettes After Sex, an American group.
With its three stages, the festival invites music-lovers to “a tasteful musical spectrum, supplemented with engaging cultural and artistic activities, all in the arms of a luscious natural backdrop”.

- Pera Museum to host Mario Prassinos exhibition
Istanbul’s Pera Museum is hosting an exhibition of works by Istanbul-born Greek artist Mario Prassinos between May 25 and August 14.
‘In Pursuit of an Artist: Istanbul-Paris-Istanbul,’ marks the 100th anniversary of Prassinos’ birth.
The display brings together the modernist painter’s works including artworks, book illustrations, tapestries, portraits and engravings.
Curated by Seza Sinanlar Uslu with the consultancy of expert Catherine Prassinos and advisor Thierry Rye, the display “reveals the striking and unique character of Prassinos and his distinctive style shifting from surrealism to a more realistic approach,” Pera Museum says.

-Modern Talking’s lead singer to play in Istanbul
German singer Thomas Anders who was the lead singer of popular duo Modern Talking will play Istanbul CRR Music Hall on May 28.
Known for their popular songs such as ‘You’re My Heart, You’re My Soul’ and ‘Cheri, Cheri Lady,’ Modern Talking enjoyed countless chart successes and the duo marked 1980’s music history with their albums.
Anders and Dieter Bohlen released their first album in 1984 and became number one in 35 countries with ‘You’re My Heart, You’re My Soul’.
