"They are very helpful, and we reciprocate by helping them out when they need help. Our teachers are also happy with them," Sargin said.

Cenker Kucur, another student from the same school, said: "I have never seen them indulge in wrongdoings. Some have difficulties speaking Turkish, but all of them manage to get good grades."

Engin Aslan, an accountant, said during his work-related dealings he found Africans very respectful.

Yasar Dasdemir, a bagel vendor, said he is not bothered by the presence of Africans in the country.

"Many of them can't find jobs and so I give them at least 20 free bagels every day," he added.

Ziyad Salah, a British citizen of Iraqi descent, said she has seen many Africans living in Turkey.

"They all look happy here. I have never encountered a problem with them. Many come here to study, to live better lives and they are happy," she said.

The number of Africans in Turkey has increased in recent years.

Nearly 1.5 million Africans are currently living in Turkey, according to government data.

Although one may find Africans in every province in Turkey, data reveals, every fourth African prefers to live in the commercial capital Istanbul.
