By Cuneyt Karadag
BERLIN (AA) - A protest by climate activists at Cologne-Bonn Airport in Germany caused a disruption in air traffic Wednesday, according to local officials.
Germany's Cologne police announced that five activists were protesting in an area close to the runway, and as a result, air traffic was suspended.
The group Letzte Generation (Last Generation) stated on X that the protest demanded the elimination of fossil fuels by 2030 and that it was part of an international protest campaign.
They added that similar protests would be carried out simultaneously at airports in the UK, Austria, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Canada, the US, Scotland, and Norway.
