KAYSERI, Türkiye (AA) - An airborne exercise continues in Türkiye’s central Kayseri province on Wednesday.

Starting on Oct. 2, Erciyes-2023 has nine participants from friendly and allied countries, including Azerbaijan, Georgia, Pakistan, Spain, Italy, Libya and Uzbekistan. The UK and Bahrain are also present as observers. The exercise will officially conclude on Oct. 20.

On Wednesday, night military free fall parachuting was organized within the scope of the Air Guidance Operation in the exercise.

In addition to Turkish ones, commandos from the Azerbaijani, Pakistani, Georgian and Libyan armies also took part in the free fall.

The exercise aims to carry out combined and joint operations with friendly and allied countries and to develop airborne capabilities.

It also aims to determine the combat readiness levels of headquarters and units by implementing training for Battlefield Function Areas within the brigade integrity, and to improve the planning and conducting skills of all personnel by experiencing combat conditions within a scenario.

During the exercise, free fall, static parachute jump, capturing airhead targets, target detection and destruction with UAV/Manned Reconnaissance Aircraft are being tested.

Additionally, static and free parachute systems used in airborne operations will be introduced and the types of loads dropped from the aircraft will be shown.

Units and elements from the Turkish General Staff, Land Forces Command, and Air Forces Command are taking part in the exercise.
