ANKARA (AA) - Anadolu Agency is here with a rundown of the latest developments on the coronavirus pandemic and other news in Turkiye and around the world.

- Coronavirus and other developments in Turkiye

The Turkish Health Ministry reported a record 102,601 new COVID-19 cases, 198 deaths and 87,562 recoveries over the past day. Also, 452,173 virus tests were conducted in the past 24 hours.

To stem the virus’ spread, the country has also administered more than 141.52 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines since it launched an immunization drive in January 2021, according to ministry figures.

More than 57.43 million people have gotten their first jab, while over 52.42 million have been fully vaccinated, the ministry added. Turkiye has also given third booster shots to nearly 25.12 million people.

Turkiye and the United Arab Emirates discussed prospects for enhancing defense and military cooperation.

At least 12 Daesh/ISIS terrorist suspects were arrested in northern Turkiye.

The Turkish Air Force has struck terrorist targets belonging to the YPG/PKK in northern Iraq and parts of northern Syria as part of "Operation Winter Eagle,” said the country's Defense Ministry.

The US and NATO ignored Moscow's principal concerns in their responses to the country's proposals on security guarantees, said Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Any further Russian incursion in Ukraine would be a political, humanitarian and military disaster, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson said in Kyiv.

Amnesty International called for holding Israel accountable for committing "apartheid" crimes against the Palestinians in the occupied territories.

Most European countries are easing pandemic-related measures amid high vaccination rates, despite a rise in mild COVID-19 cases due to the omicron variant.

Top diplomats from the EU, US, UK, Albania, Australia, Canada, South Korea, Norway, New Zealand and Switzerland deplored the “devastating effects” of the military takeover in Myanmar that took place a year ago.

Islamophobic attacks continue across France with two separate incidents reported last week.

The situation in Guinea-Bissau is “under government control,” President Umaro Sissoco Embalo said amid reports of an attempted coup in the West African country.
