ANKARA (AA) – The Paris Fashion Week show has triggered reactions over realistic animal heads exposed on clothes, including criticism by an animal rights organization on Tuesday.
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) criticized the show in a Twitter post on Tuesday, calling the Schiaparelli House and famous models – such as Irina Shayk and Naomi Campbell – to "extend this creativity to be 100% vegan & exclude sheep shorn bloody for wool & silkworms boiled alive for silk," according to French daily 20minutes.
Schiaparelli in a statement said on Monday that "no animals were harmed" while making the collection.
PETA criticized this declaration, and described it as being "objectively false."
According to the organization, those clothes "glorify trophy hunting," as quoted by the French daily 20minutes.
During the show held on Monday, British supermodel Campbell wore a fake black wolf head on the right shoulder of her cloth, while media personality and model Kylie Jenner was carrying a giant lion's head on her left shoulder.
