ANKARA (AA) - The relations between Türkiye and Russia serve both global peace and development of humanity, Turkish parliament speaker Mustafa Sentop said on Tuesday.
"Relations between Türkiye and Russia are not just bilateral relations. It also has an effect and a nature that will serve world peace and the development of humanity in many regional and global issues," Sentop said at a news conference with his Russian counterpart Vyacheslav Volodin in the capital Ankara.
Sentop said they discussed bilateral relations, regional issues, and also projects to enhance the ties between Turkish and Russian parliaments.
"...we live in a multipolar, multilateral world order. In such a period, bilateral relations, especially the relations of the two major actors in the region, will have benefits both for the region and for global peace," he added.
Relations between Türkiye and Russia have developed on the basis of sincerity and trust, Sentop added.
Volodin, for his part, said the talks were held in an "extremely warm atmosphere."
Although the pandemic disrupted inter-parliamentary relations, Volodin said, Moscow and Ankara will support and develop the relations in every way for the benefit of the peoples and states.
He also invited Sentop to Moscow to co-chair the high-level cooperation commission meeting between the parliaments, which is expected to be held early 2023.
