Annual Gulf summit set to open in Kuwait on Sunday

Host of issues on agenda, including regional security, Gulf economic integration

CAIRO (AA) – Leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) are set to meet in Kuwait on Sunday for their annual summit.

The summit will be attended by Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain and Oman.

Attendees will discuss a host of issues, including regional security, Gulf economic integration, and a raft of global and regional challenges, the Kuwaiti state news agency KUNA reported.

Key topics on the agenda include developments in the Palestinian territories, Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen, the broadcaster said.

Sunday’s event marks the eighth summit hosted by Kuwait. It has organized seven GCC summits since the Gulf bloc was formed in 1981.
