Annual inflation rates down in both EU, euro area in October
Highest annual price rises in October seen in Romania, Estonia, and Latvia

ISTANBUL - Annual inflation was at 2.1% in the euro area in October, down from 2.2% in September, Eurostat announced Wednesday, adding that the rate also dropped from 2.6% to 2.5% in the full EU side.
In October 2024, in comparison, annual rates were at 2% for the euro area and 2.3% for the EU, according to Eurostat data.
The lowest annual rates in October were seen in the Greek Cypriot Administration (0.2%), France (0.8%), and Italy (1.3%) while the highest annual rates were in Romania (8.4%), Estonia (4.5%) and Latvia (4.3%).
Compared with September 2025, annual inflation fell in 15 member states, remained stable in three, and rose in nine, Eurostat said.
In October 2025, the highest contribution to the annual euro area inflation rate came from services with 1.54 percentage points, followed by food, alcohol & tobacco with 0.48 percentage points, and non-energy industrial goods with 0.16 percentage points.
The euro area — also called the EA20 — is made up of EU member states that use the bloc’s single currency, the euro.
