BEIRUT (AA) – Hezbollah said on Monday that one of its members was killed in Israeli airstrikes near the Lebanon-Israel border, bringing the group's death toll since Oct. 8 to 125.
The Lebanon-based group did not provide any additional information about the circumstances surrounding the death of its member in a statement.
However, the official Lebanese News Agency (NNA) reported that the Israeli army launched attacks using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) or drones and shelled several border areas in southern Lebanon overnight.
The Israeli enemy targeted the outskirts of the towns of Rmeish, Marwahin, and Dhayra with drones, the news agency added.
Israeli forces also fired incendiary bombs into forests adjacent to the Blue Line on the outskirts of the towns of Naqoura, Alma ash-Sha'b, and Al-Bustan, it said.
According to the NNA, Israeli fighter jets also targeted the outskirts of the border town of Aytrun on Monday morning, with no reports of injuries as of yet.
Israeli airstrikes targeted the southern outskirts of the town of Mays al-Jabal, but no injuries were reported.
Earlier on Monday, the Israeli army confirmed an overnight artillery attack on the town of Yaroun in southern Lebanon. It also targeted sources of gunfire from Lebanese territory towards the Avivim border area.
Tensions have flared along the Lebanese-Israeli border amid intermittent exchanges of fire between the Lebanese group Hezbollah and Israeli forces in the deadliest clashes since the two sides fought a full-scale war in 2006.
The border tension came amid an Israeli military campaign in the Gaza Strip following a cross-border attack by Palestinian group Hamas on Oct. 7.
