Another Israeli soldier dies of wounds from Gaza clashes, military says

JERUSALEM (AA) – Another Israeli soldier died of wounds sustained in clashes in Jabalia in the northern Gaza Strip, the military said on Sunday.

A military statement said Maj. Gal Shabbat, 24, a company commander in the Paratroopers Brigade’s 202nd Battalion, was wounded in Jabalia and succumbed to his wounds on Sunday.

On Wednesday, Hamas said that 12 Israeli soldiers had been killed in an attack in the Jabalia refugee camp.

According to Israeli military figures, at least 631 soldiers have been killed and 3,533 others injured in the Gaza conflict since Oct. 7, 2023.

Israel continued its brutal offensive on Gaza despite a UN Security Council resolution demanding an immediate cease-fire.

Over 35,400 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza, the vast majority being women and children, and nearly 79,500 others injured since October following an attack by Hamas.

More than seven months into the Israeli war, vast swathes of Gaza lay in ruins amid a crippling blockade of food, clean water and medicine.

Israel is accused of “genocide” at the International Court of Justice, which has ordered Tel Aviv to ensure its forces do not commit acts of genocide and take measures to guarantee that humanitarian assistance is provided to civilians in Gaza.
