GAZA CITY, Palestine (AA) - A Palestinian journalist was killed Saturday in an Israeli airstrike on his home in the Gaza Strip, according to the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate (PJS).

PJS identified the journalist as Sari Mansour, who was killed in the Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza.

The group said earlier Saturday that journalist and political analyst Mustafa al-Sawwaf was also killed, along with several family members in an Israeli airstrike on his home in Gaza City.

It added that two of al-Sawwaf’s sons were critically injured in the attack and identified them as Montaser, a contracting photographer for Anadolu and Mohammad, a filmmaker.

PJS noted that the death toll for Palestinian journalists by the Israeli army since Oct. 7 has jumped to 79, in addition to 29 who have been detained.

Israel has killed more than 12,300 Palestinians in its air and ground attacks on the Gaza Strip since an Oct. 7 surprise offensive by the Palestinian resistance group, Hamas. The official Israeli death toll, meanwhile, stands at about 1,200.

Israel has rejected growing calls for a cease-fire until all hostages held by Hamas are released.
