AYDIN, Turkey (AA) – The brother of the leader of the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) launched a march against the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) in western Aydin province Friday.

Celal Kilicdaroglu and his supporters walked the 37.8-kilometer (23.5-mile) long distance between the province’s Soke and Didim districts.

Kilicdaroglu came to the starting point of the walk with a banner that read: "FETO members tricked my brother too."

He said his brother Kemal Kilicdaroglu, who heads the CHP, also backed his anti-FETO march. "He said to me: 'Well done! If everybody did their duty, we would get rid of FETO'."

He also accused a local municipality of allegedly transferring money to FETO, urging the president and prime minister to look into the matter.

Led by U.S.-based Fetullah Gulen, FETO is accused of orchestrating Turkey’s July 15 coup plot as well as being behind a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police and judiciary.

The July 15 defeated coup left 248 martyred, 2,193 others wounded.
