Anti-FETO operations begin across 16 Turkish provinces

ISTANBUL (AA) - Counter-terror operations were launched across Turkey on Wednesday to nab more than 100 suspects allegedly linked to the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO), the group behind last year's defeated coup attempt, according to a police source Wednesday.
The operations in 16 provinces, including capital Ankara and western Izmir province came after Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office in Istanbul issued arrest warrants for 112 suspects.
The Istanbul-based operations were conducted as part of a probe into the Journalists and Writers Foundation, also known as the JWF, whose honorary president is FETO leader Fetullah Gulen.
FETO and Gulen orchestrated last year's defeated coup attempt, which left 250 people martyred and nearly 2,200 injured.
Ankara accuses FETO of being behind a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police, and judiciary.
