Asian stock markets close mixed

Hong Kong stock exchange worst performer of day, falling 1.13%

ANKARA (AA) – Major Asian stock markets closed Wednesday mixed amid recession fears and the property crisis in China.

The Asia Dow, which includes blue-chip companies in the region, was marginally up by 0.02% to 3,243.49 points.

Tokyo's Nikkei 225 stock exchange rose 60.5 points, or 0.22%, to 27,716.

The Hang Seng, the benchmark for blue-chip stocks trading on the Hong Kong stock exchange, fell 235.8 points, or 1.13%, to 20,670.

China's Shanghai Stock Exchange lost 1.7 points, or 0.05%, to close at 3,275 points.

The Indian Sensex benchmark rose 542 points, or 0.99%, to end the day at 55,810 points, while the Singapore index was up 13 points, or 0.41%, to close at 3,205.
