Asian stock markets close Tuesday mixed

ANKARA (AA) - Major Asian stock markets ended Tuesday mixed as investors' search for direction continues amid expectations that the US Federal Reserve will raise interest rates by 75 basis points in September.

At the close, China's Shanghai composite index decreased by 0.42% to 3,227 points, while South Korea's Kospi index rose 0.99% to 2,450 points.
In Japan, the Nikkei 225 index rose by 1.14% to 28.195 points, while the dollar/yen parity is trading at 138.6, 0.1% below the previous close.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng index fell 0.50% to 19,922 points, and India's Sensex index rose 1.70% to 58,960 points.
