Asian stock markets mixed at Friday's close

Tokyo’s Nikkei 225 stock exchange falls 0.56% as survey shows worsening sentiment among major Japanese manufacturers

ANKARA (AA) – Asian stocks ended mixed on Friday amid concerns over inflation and the Russia-Ukraine war.

The Asia Dow, which includes blue-chip companies in the region, fell 18.4 points, or 0.50%, to 3,637 at 1020GMT.

Tokyo’s Nikkei 225 stock exchange decreased 155.5 points, or 0.56%, to close at 27,666.

On Friday, the Bank of Japan's Tankan survey showed that sentiment among major Japanese manufacturers worsened in March for the first time in seven quarters, owing to a surge in energy and raw material costs amid Russia's war on Ukraine and pandemic-related supply bottlenecks.

China’s Shanghai Stock Exchange rose 30.5 points, or 0.94%, to 3,282, while India’s Sensex benchmark increased by 708.2 points, or 1.21%, to 59,276.

The Hang Seng, the benchmark for blue-chip stocks trading on the Hong Kong stock exchange, was up 42.7 points, or 0.19%, to close at 22,039.

The Singapore index also gained 10.6 points, or 0.31%, to end the day at 3,419.
