Asian stocks markets close Thursday on low note

Concerns over more hawkish moves by US Federal Reserve, resurgent COVID-19 outbreaks in China weigh on Asian markets

ISTANBUL (AA) - Major Asian stock markets closed in negative territory on Thursday amid investors' concerns over more hawkish moves by the US Federal Reserve and resurgent COVID-19 outbreaks in China.

The Asia Dow, which includes blue-chip companies in the region, lost 0.97% to end at 3,168.10 points.

Tokyo's Nikkei 225 fell 0.35% to close at 27,930.

The Hang Seng, the benchmark for blue-chip stocks trading on the Hong Kong stock exchange, dropped 1.15% to 18,045.66.

Hong Kong’s seasonally adjusted jobless rate fell to 3.8% in the three months to October from 3.9% in July-September, according to data released on Thursday – the lowest rate in over two years.

China's Shanghai Stock Exchange dropped 0.15% to 3,115.43.

India's Sensex benchmark lost 0.37% to close at 61,750, while the Singapore index rose 0.61%, to 3,286.
