BEIRUT (AA) – At least seven people were killed and three others injured in fresh Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon, according to Lebanese media on Thursday.

Israeli warplanes struck a house in the town of Deir El-Zahrani in Nabatieh, leaving three people dead, the state news agency NNA reported.

Three more people were killed and three others injured in another strike targeting Sohmor town in the Bekaa Valley in eastern Lebanon, the news agency said.

A drone strike on a motorcycle in Aaraiya in western Bekaa killed one person, according to the same source.

Israeli artillery shelling was also reported in the southern town of Chihine with Lebanese media reporting the use of shells containing the internationally-prohibited white phosphorus material in the attack.

Under international humanitarian law, the use of airburst white phosphorus is considered unlawfully indiscriminate in populated areas.

Meanwhile, ground clashes between Hezbollah fighters and Israeli forces continued in Khiyam town in southern Lebanon amid Israeli attempts to advance into the town.

Israel launched a massive air campaign last month in Lebanon against what it claims are Hezbollah targets in an escalation in a year of cross-border warfare between Israel and the group since the start of

Israel’s brutal offensive on Gaza.

More than 2,800 people have been killed and nearly 12,900 injured in Israeli attacks since last October, according to Lebanese health authorities.

Israel expanded the conflict by launching an incursion into southern Lebanon on Oct. 1.
