ISTANBUL (AA) – Azerbaijan has sent another batch of electrical equipment to Ukraine as humanitarian aid amid the country’s ongoing power grid crisis, state news agency Azertac reported Tuesday.

The assistance was arranged by Azerbaijan’s energy ministry in line with an order from President Ilham Aliyev, according to local media.

On Jan. 20, Azerbaijan sent electrical equipment to Ukraine, including 12 low-voltage solar panels, 11 generators, and 27,000 meters of cables and wires, with a total value of $1 million.

The total value of humanitarian assistance provided by Azerbaijan to Ukraine, including aid for recovery and reconstruction efforts, has exceeded $45 million.

Ukraine declared a state of emergency in its energy sector last week due to extreme weather conditions and Russian strikes, including an attack on Jan. 9 that left large parts of Kyiv without electricity.

Russia said the Jan. 9 strike was carried out in response to an attempted Ukrainian drone attack on President Vladimir Putin’s residence in the Novgorod region late last year. Kyiv denied the claim, saying the accusation was aimed at undermining diplomatic efforts to end the nearly four-year war.
