BAFTA Awards: 1917 shines with seven honors

ANKARA (AA) - 1917, a World War I drama, stole the show at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Awards 2020, taking home seven prizes including best film.

Sam Mendes won best director for the war epic, which also picked up trophies for best British film and best cinematography.

At a glitzy ceremony in London on Sunday, Joaquin Phoenix grabbed the best actor award for his title role in Joker, while Renee Zellweger was crowned best actress for the biopic Judy.

South Korean film Parasite, which was also in the run for best film, took the honors for original screenplay and best foreign language film.

Brad Pitt was also among the winners as best supporting actor for Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon A Time... in Hollywood.
