Bangladeshi Embassy in Ankara opens photo exhibit
'Bangabandhu and the Story of Bangladesh' marks 100th birthday of founding President Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman

ANKARA (AA) - Bangladesh Embassy in the Turkish capital Ankara held a photo exhibition themed "Bangabandhu and the Story of Bangladesh" to celebrate the 100th birthday anniversary of the founding president of the country, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and the Golden Jubilee of Bangladesh's independence.
The event, which was held at the Zulfi Livaneli Cultural Center in cooperation with Cankaya Municipality, was attended by Bangladesh's Ambassador to Ankara Mosud Mannan, Cankaya Deputy Mayor Gulsun Bor Guner, Deputy Director General for Foreign Promotion and Cultural Affairs Abroad Umut Acar, diplomatic representatives of various countries, and a large number of guests.
Speaking at the event, Ambassador Mannan said that it is a great privilege and honor to host the guests.
Mannan underlined that the history and development of Bangladesh since it was established as a sovereign and independent country in 1971 were explained in the exhibition.
He expressed his "deepest respects to the founder of Bangladesh for his great sacrifice and inspiration for the Bengali people" to realize their long-standing dream of owning their own country.
Emphasizing that Bangladesh is the fastest growing economy in South Asia under the dynamic and prudent leadership of Bangabandhu's eldest daughter, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he said: "Bangladesh has already become the world's second-largest garment manufacturer and the largest power provider to the United Nations Peacekeeping Force."
Bangladesh also has many achievements in pharmaceutical software development, ceramics, shipbuilding, light engineering, tea, jute, frozen fish, he added. "We are grateful that our farmers who have made Bangladesh self-sufficient in food grain production since 1998," he said.
He also thanked the Cankaya Municipality for their support in the opening of the photography exhibition.
The exhibition is open until Aug. 15.
