LAGOS, Nigeria (AA) - Six people, including three suspected suicide bombers were killed and over a dozen others injured during attacks at internally-displaced people (IDP)’s camps in northeast Nigeria Sunday night, according to an emergency authority official Monday.
All the camps hit in the attack were located in the restive Borno state where the state is fighting against the heavily-armed Boko Haram group.
“Two suicide bombers [a male and female] detonated their improvised explosives device at Dalori 1 IDP camp, leading to the death of three IDPs while 17 others were injured,” National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) spokesman Abdulkadir Ibrahim said in a statement.
“Another incident occurred at Dalori 2 IDP camp where a suicide bomber was intercepted, leading to the death of the suicide bomber. Injured persons have been administered with first aid and moved to hospitals in Maiduguri,” Ibrahim said.
Two Cameroonian soldiers were also reportedly killed early Monday during a suspected Boko Haram attack on an army post in the far north region of the francophone country.
