Boosting bilateral trade with Türkiye to $5B a priority, says Pakistani premier

Shehbaz Sharif says his country is looking forward to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's visit to Pakistan

ISLAMABAD (AA) - Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday said that steps are being taken on a priority basis to bring the trade volume to $5 billion annually between Pakistan and Türkiye.

Talking with a Turkish investors delegation, at his office in Islamabad, led by Trade and Customs Minister Omer Bolat, Premier Sharif said that Islamabad and Ankara already agreed to increase the trade volume from the current level to $5 billion annually.

"Pakistan and Türkiye are two countries but one nation as people of Pakistan and Türkiye have ideal fraternal relations spanning on centuries," Sharif said, according to official statement issued in Urdu language.

He also welcomed the delegation and directed Pakistani authorities to provide them all kinds of facilities for investment in Pakistan.

He added that his government want to promote trade relations between the two countries.

"It was agreed with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to increase the trade volume between Pakistan and Türkiye from the current level to 5 billion dollars annually," Premier Sharif told the delegation.

He also reiterated his invitation to the Turkish President to visit Pakistan soon and said "Pakistani people are waiting for the visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Pakistan."

The current investment volume of 54 Turkish companies in Pakistan is $3.5 billion, according to the statement.
