Borsa Istanbul closes Thursday in positive territory

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index ended at 8,118.75 points on Thursday, soaring by 1.31%, or 104.86 points, from the previous close.

The lowest value of Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index during the day was 7,797.06, with the highest at 8,118.75.

The market value of the BIST 100 was around 6.9 trillion Turkish liras ($259.5 billion) by market close, while the daily trading volume was 141 billion Turkish liras ($5.22 billion).

Some 59 stocks gained value, while 38 declined.

The price of an ounce of gold was $1,930.35, while Brent crude oil sold for $93.4 per barrel as of 6.30 p.m. local time (1530GMT).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 26.9305, the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 28.7950, and the British pound traded at 33.4350 Turkish liras.
