Borsa Istanbul down at Friday open

BIST 100 index sheds 3.06 points from previous close

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey’s benchmark stock index opened at 1,350.31 points on Friday, down 0.23% or 3.06 points from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index closed at 1,355.07 points on Thursday, with a daily trading volume of 37 billion Turkish liras ($4.7 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose from 7.8690 to 7.9020 as of 9:30 a.m. local time (0630GMT).

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also increased to 9.6130 from 9.5320, while one British pound traded for 10.5530 Turkish liras, up from 10.4780 at the previous close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $50.50 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
