Borsa Istanbul down at Friday open

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey’s benchmark stock index opened at 1,398.26 points on Friday, down 0.08% or 1.10 points from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index hit an all-time high at 1,399.36 points on Thursday, with a daily trading volume of 28.9 billion Turkish liras (nearly $3.7 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate fell to 7.7250 from 7.7450 as of 9:30 a.m. local time (0630GMT).

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also dropped to 9.4620 from 9.4950, while one British pound traded for 10.4820 Turkish liras, down from 10.5620 at the previous close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $51.29 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
