Borsa Istanbul down at Friday open

BIST 100 index falls nearly 3 points from previous close

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index opened at 1,542.50 points on Friday, down 0.20% or 3.09 points from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index closed Thursday at 1,545.59 points, with a daily trading volume of 25.9 billion liras ($3.7 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 7.0410 from 7.0220 as of 9:30 a.m. local time (0630GMT).

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also climbed to 8.5380 from 8.5370, while one British pound traded for 9.7320 on Friday, versus 9.7350 at Thursday’s close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $60.63 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
