Borsa Istanbul down at opening session

BIST 100 index loses some 6.5 points from previous close

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index opened the last transaction day of the week at 1,394.95 points, down 0.46% or 6.51 points from the previous close.

At Thursday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was down 0.43% to 1,401.46 points, with a daily trading volume of 17.9 billion Turkish liras ($2.06 billion).

On Friday, the US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate increased to 8.8120 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), versus 8.7400 on Thursday's close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate was up to 10.3430, compared to 10.2820, while one British pound traded for 12.1230 Turkish liras, up from 12.0400.

One barrel of Brent crude oil was sold for around $77.6 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
