Borsa Istanbul down at Thursday open

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index opened at 1,097.87 points on Thursday, down 0.43% or 4.78 points from the previous close.

At Wednesday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was up 0.59% at 1,102.65 points, with a daily trading volume of 15.5 billion Turkish liras ($2 billion)

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 7.7170 as of 9:30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), up from 7.6980 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate dropped slightly to 8.9900 from 8.9910, while one British pound traded for 9.8200 Turkish liras, down from 9.8640.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $41.58 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
