Borsa Istanbul down at Tuesday open

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index opened at 1,489.32 points on Tuesday, down 0.41% or 6.11 points from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index increased 1.27% and closed at 1,495.43 points -- all-time high -- on Monday, with a daily trading volume of 30.9 billion Turkish liras ($4.2 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 7.4200 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), up from 7.3670 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also increased to 9.1000 from 9.0580, while one British pound traded for 10.0900 Turkish liras, up from 10.0860.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $50.95 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
